Why an indoor wedding is a great idea?

We know that choosing a wedding venue is an enormous choice; it’s the setting for one of the most important days of your life and, as much as we may all dream about sandy beaches and glorious sunshine (we know we do!), the reality of choosing an outdoor wedding venue in the UK can leave so many unknowns right up until the day itself. That’s why we’ve put together our top four reasons for why an indoor venue is a good idea – even for the summer.

The obvious one… Weather

That’s right, we live in the UK and, you just never know what the weather will decide to do on your big day.  Choosing to have an outdoor venue means you have to have a wet weather or a heat wave plan. Whereas, having your wedding indoors means you and your guests can take full advantage of your venues air-con (because you know people would complain about being too hot, even if the weather was on your side!) or heating. But, just because you choose to have an indoor wedding doesn’t mean you can’t have any outdoor photographs. We are super lucky to have Lincolns Inn Fields just around the corner from us here at 113 Chancery Lane. One of last years bride and grooms had some beautiful photos taken there, can you believe this was a December wedding?

You can bring the outside in

You can incorporate elements from outdoors within your venue, the opportunities really are endless when it comes to decorating an indoor venue. Greenery has been a massive wedding theme this year, whether it be as your centre piece or your bouquets – we loved how this bride bought nature inside with this floral and foliage display up our beautiful red staircase last year.

Another way to achieve this is through moving projections, the 2019 Wedding Trend Report from Coco Wedding Venues & Katrina Otter Weddings thinks this will be an even bigger trend for next year. We think that this isn’t just for blank canvas spaces and would love to see one of next year’s couples do this here at 113 Chancery Lane.

The legal bit

Celebrant led ceremonies are on the ride but for some couples, having an official ceremony as part of their big day is very important. For the ceremony to be legal, the venue has to be licensed and it is currently difficult for outdoor spaces to achieve this. An indoor venue still needs to be licensed but most will have this, for example, we are able to hold ceremonies up to 200 guests.

Suitable for all

It might not be something you think of straight away but, having an outdoor venue may make it more difficult for some of your guests to get around. Some outdoor venues are not suitable for wheelchair users and elderly guests can struggle on uneven ground. Here at 113, our venue is full accessible for all guests.
